Senior dating can be a bit nerve- wracking but a senior blind date can be even worse.  However, there are some survival tips for blind dating that will get you through the night.  Sometimes, blind dates can actually turn out to be really great.  There is always feelings of anxiety, fear and nerves that may be heightened with blind senior dating.  Just follow these tips to help calm your nerves and to have a great date.

Don’t Judge

Stay positive when you are on your senior blind date.  Many people begin to pass judgment even before the person arrives at the restaurant.  You must stay open minded during senior dating and you may be pleasantly surprised.  Expectations and images should be thrown out the window.  After all, within a few minutes you will be able to tell whether or not you are into your date.

Shorter is Better

Seniors should have shorter dating sessions rather than longer ones.  Do not plan to go to the movies as this could be a dating disaster for blind dates.  It is better to meet at a local bar for an after work drink, during your lunch break or at a café.  If this short date turns out well, then you can consider going on longer dates.  Shorter dates should be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Don’t Change Who You Are

Don’t try to make yourself into someone who you are not, no matter how old you are.  When you meet someone for the first time, it is true that you are going to be a little nervous but this should not make you turn into someone else.  Be who you are and you will find out whether your date is a perfect match.

Other Senior Dating Tips

Meeting someone on a blind date can be a little awkward since you do not really know who they are.  You should be safe when you meet this person, even if it is a friend of a friend.  Make sure your friend knows where you are and at what time you are meeting up at and meet at a neutral location that is populated.  Do not have this person pick you up.  Paying half and half is also a good way to avoid any obligations to either half.  Don’t let your goodbye be awkward either.  If you are not interested in seeing this person again let him or her know.  Likewise, if you had a good time, you can tell him or her that it was nice meeting up and that you would like to do it again.
