Yes, staying fit at a distance seems to be an oxymoron but it is actually a stimulating way to get fit until the next time you see your partner again. Working out does not mean that you have to spend hours in the gym to attain the perfect body. For the sake of yourself, your partner and children, you should have a healthy regimen of living which includes going to the gym. Even if you just walk around the neighborhood for 30 minutes, at least you are giving your body what it needs to stay healthy.
When you are in a long distance relationship or your spouse is away on a lengthy business trip, the two of you can still motivate each other to live your healthy lifestyles. Everyone experiences the lazy bug of waking up in the morning and dreading to do anything physical. You continue to put off your routine and one day you wake up feeling lethargic because you have abandoned your fitness routine without the motivation of your spouse. A good way to stay fit together even though you are at a distance is to work out together, but apart.
Come up with a plan and a schedule that works for the two of you. Plan to go out walking at 7:00AM for 30 minutes. You can write messages to each other saying OK leaving the house now and plan to meet up afterwards for a few minutes to ask how the morning workout went. It will be comforting and motivating to know that the person you love is doing the same exact thing your are. You will be motivated because you know that your spouse is walking up a storm and you do not want to let him or her down. You can even come up with mini routines or workout circuits for a total body workout that include squats, pushups, leg lifts, abdominal exercises, triceps dips and lunges. Set up your webcams and workout together. These exercises can be done in the comfort of your home or hotel room. This is an excellent way to make sure that the other one is not cheating on the workout routine and to spend a little time together.
Now that you know how to stay fit together at a distance, you can come up with your own routines and workout schedules. Be creative and proactive. That way when you reunite, the two of you will be healthy and energized to start back up on your regular workout routine together at home.
